Fast paced, with ever expanding new ways of delivering important content and analytics to our readers.Responsibilities :Become the recognized expert/'face of S&P' in your assigned areas of responsibility: Methanol & Derivatives - AmericaMaintain and develop knowledge of the state of the market:Industry dimensions: size of market, regional growth rates, trade patternsKeep abreast of price movements, underlying feedstock price movements, new capacity announcements and other industry newsMaintain knowledge of key players in each region. Market structure - main net buyers/sellersUnderstand process technologies and production economicsBuild relationship/partner with the S&P price reporters:Petrochemical Analytics offering and provide support where necessary.Understand interfaces and dependencies on other parts of the company and collaborate where required eg feedstocks interface with Fuels team.Develop and maintain own/S&P industry view:Short- and long-term supply-demand, price and margin outlooks.Maintain a “state of the industry” presentations for use by yourself and other colleaguesThought leadershipDevelop client relationships:Develop and maintain a list of key market contactsProactively visit for BD; share our industry outlook.Respond to client queriesSupport Expert CallsSpeak at industry conferencesThe Impact:
The successful candidate will become the ‘face’ of S&P Global Commodity Insights business in methanol and derivatives value chain in the Americas. This integral position within the Chemicals business unit will develop and manage insights and forecasting products, have deep market and subject matter expertise to build long-term value for clients.What We’re Looking For:BA/BS/Bachelor or MS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Economics, Finance, Business or other numerate discipline preferred. Equivalent experience within the chemical industry also considered.15+ years' experience in commodity markets, with 2+ years’ experience in data analytics. Previous experience analyzing petrochemical and plastics markets is a plus.Expert status in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel. Working knowledge of Power BI/Tableau, SQL and/or Python is a plus.Persistent, with a natural curiosity about chemical market fundamentals and technical details.Strong understanding of value chain pricing dynamics, including outright prices, spreads, margins and grade differentials.Displays well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques, clear, concise writing style; and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally. Public speaking experience is a plus.Works well in a global team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team.Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to adjust priorities throughout the day.English Language capability is a must. Other language skills will be an advantage. Candidate must be willing to travel, both domestically and internationally.Compensation/Benefits Information:S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position starting at 120,000.00. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
