ProfessionalPosition Details:The Opportunity:The primary focus of the Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program is business development education through individual and small group advising.As the Assistant Director, you will be responsible for providing management and leadership of publicly funded initiatives that serve the mission, vision, and values of the Washington SBDC. You will exemplify excellence to the Network, demonstrate professionalism in all written and verbal communications, and model the guiding principles of the Washington SBDC. As delegated by the State Director, you will:Start and grow projects by leveraging mutually beneficial partnerships, and/or stakeholders.Support the State Director by assisting with the managerial and leadership aspects of the Washington SBDC program, including operational aspects of the department and the design.Deploy and integrate the Washington SBDC strategic initiatives.Additionally, you will represent the Washington SBDC to key stakeholders and community partners.In confidential, one-on-one client relationships, and in adherence to the Professional Code of Conduct policies of the Washington SBDC, you will educate, mentor, and advise clients in all areas of starting, maintaining, growing, or selling a business, and collaborate with advisors across the state who request assistance on behalf of a client with needs for subject matter expertise.New employees in the SBDC network will need to successfully complete a certification program within six months of hire to become fully certified as an advisor. Certification is designed to allow the new advisor to demonstrate their comprehensive knowledge and abilities to be successful in guiding clients toward their goals while taking advantage of learning from experienced advisors sharing best practices, tools and processes they use to assist their clients.Required Qualifications:Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.Robust computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Word, Powerpoint, email and Excel applications.Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies and procedures.Within six (6) months of being hired, complete the WSBDC certification, or be making satisfactory progress toward completion of the WSBDC certification as determined by the SBDC’s Certification and Professional Development Committee. Upon successful completion, the candidate will be designated a Certified Business Advisor and will be expected to pursue ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain their certification.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in a relevant field.Experience in higher education.Experience in strategic planning, formulation, design, implementation and tracking.Experience creating/auditing administrative procedures and internal controls.The exact location of this position is flexible; however, all position activities and responsibilities are geographically based on the Western Region of Washington State. This includes: Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum, and Whatcom Counties.Additional Information:Area/College:

$6,666.67 - $7,850 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
