Seeking applicants to join our group in the Dept of Neuroscience, Northwestern University, Chicago. We're interested in understanding how motor-related circuits are organized to integrate diverse signals and control movements, particularly ethological actions such as food handling. Techniques we use include in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, imaging, optogenetic, viral labeling, high-speed video, behavioral tracking, and more. Familiarity with these techniques is welcome though not required. Experience with programming, data analysis, and instrumentation is recommended. Projects can be tailored based on experience and interest. The training experience includes opportunities to branch out in various scientific and technical directions as projects evolve, and is geared toward supporting the trainee's development as an independent scientist. Northwestern has excellent research facilities and a large and interactive neuroscience community. We welcome applicants with an imminent or recent PhD in neuroscience or related fields, high-quality publications, and eagerness to think and work creatively towards understanding circuit-behavior relationships in the mammalian brain. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Start date and other details are flexible. To apply, send CV (PDF, with list of references).
