Director of Volleyball Arizona Athletic Grounds - Mesa, AZArizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, AZ, spans 280 acres and is one of the largest, most versatile sports and entertainment venues in North America. We feature 8 turf baseball/softball diamonds, 24 soccer fields, 12 beach volleyball courts, 41 pickleball courts, 57 volleyball courts, 16 basketball courts, and more! Position Summary Reporting to the VP of Sports, the Director of Volleyball is essential in steering the success of our volleyball operations. This role involves overseeing the strategic planning, marketing, and execution of major volleyball tournaments, leagues, and events. The primary function is establishing and nurturing relationships to recruit events at the local, regional, and national levels while creating, building, and operating our own in-house AAG events. Driving revenue through event registrations, ticket sales, etc. The Director will manage the Volleyball Complex and its staff, focusing on achieving financial and operational objectives while ensuring exceptional experiences for participants and spectators at our state-of-the-art facilities.Primary Responsibilities •Drive revenue by recruiting, establishing, and nurturing key partnerships to recruit events at the local, regional, and national levels, while launching and executing internal events. •Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to organize and market volleyball tournaments, leagues, and events at Arizona Athletic Grounds, attracting participants and spectators. •Prepare contracts and agreements for client events, ensuring compliance with all legal and contractual obligations. •Manage the Volleyball Complex department and its staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. •Oversee on-site event operations, including setup, registration, hospitality, and coordination of game schedules, ensuring seamless execution. •Provide outstanding customer service to participants, sponsors, and vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally. •Create and manage event budgets, forecasting revenue, expenses, and profitability targets accurately. •Work with marketing to execute marketing and promotional campaigns to drive registrations and ticket sales, leveraging both digital and traditional channels effectively. •Help sales identify and secure partnerships with local businesses, sponsors, vendors, and venues to support event logistics and financial goals. •Manage internal events online registration systems and databases, overseeing participant information, payments, and event logistics efficiently. •Coordinate with officials, and event staff to ensure smooth operations and high-quality experiences during tournaments and league games. •Collaborate with designers, printers, and other vendors to produce marketing materials, signage, and merchandise tailored to each event. •Cultivate and maintain relationships with national & local organizations, schools, sports clubs, and community leaders to expand event participation and collaboration. •Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in event management and sports marketing, applying insights to enhance event experiences. •Monitor event performance and gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. •Assist in additional duties and events as needed.Experience and Qualifications •Preference is given to candidates with a well-established network within regional and national volleyball communities. •Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility management, coaching, sports/event management, sports marketing, or related field. •Exceptional organizational and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. •Creative thinker with a deep passion for volleyball/sports and meticulous attention to detail. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software. •Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders. •Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary for event planning and execution is required. •CPR and First Aid certification preferred. •Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (to operate golf carts).Education •Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Business Administration, Sports Management, or related field (preferred). •Competitive volleyball or court/complex management experience (preferred).Physical Requirements •Must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise levels and busy environments. •May work in high/low temperature climates inside or outside at events at AAG. •Walking, standing for periods of time, reaching, kneeling, and bending. •Requires ability to occasionally lift up to 25-40 lbs, •Moving, setting up/taking down, cleaning, preparing courts, and other physical activities related to sports and event setup.AZ Athletic
