As an Assistant Technical Designer, your primary duties will be to assist the technical designer while working with the design team and the manufacturing process to ensure the finished product meets the company's quality standards. During that process, you will assist in developing new tech packs by determining measurements of new designs and produce the information necessary for sampling and manufacturing apparel as well as writing comments and corresponding with vendors.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Technical design Manager with the following:Establish fit and measuring standards across the companyRefine the specs, fitting and grading processEstablish grading rules for each brandAttend the fit sessions with models and designersDetermine measurements of new designs for base-size sample requestsOnce style/fit samples are approved, grade the specs for the desired sizesOversee fit sampling and work with factories to resolve any fit challengesDesign "how to measure" pages of the tech packTransfer the fit notes to the factory and answer their questions in revising a sampleAssist in design and development by flat sketching and tech packingCommunicates with internal team to manage expectations and timelinesWhen necessary, make adjustments to patterns and samples for fit sessionsQualificationsBachelors (BFA, BS, or BSCS) with specialization in apparel designSome experience in pattern making, advanced sewing/construction, tailoring and drapingMinimum of 2 years of relevant work experienceExperienced in pattern making, sewing, grading, tech packing, flat sketching and fittingStrong understanding of Adobe Illustrator and digital pattern designProficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel for specking and grading purposesExperienced in the apparel design process and knowledgeable of bulk production processDetail-oriented, organized, proactive, self-starter and a team worker
