Description

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, the Manager for Academic Curriculum is responsible for providing expertise to the Office of the Provost to address and resolve academic program concerns. The incumbent collaborates with all academic units of the University (except for the Law School, Medical School and Continuing Education) to implement Curriculog, an online curriculum management system. The Manager for Academic Curriculum serves as the primary service owner of the online curriculum process, ensuring smooth workflows and approval processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Coordinates between the Provost Office and all academic units of the University for academic curriculum development and curriculum-related actions.

Liaises with the Registrar, campus administrators and designated faculty regarding academic curriculum (Bulletin/Curriculog).

Acts as primary liaison to New York State Education Department (NYSED) for academic programs and organizational matters.

Manages and finalizes submission of new program proposals.

Maintains, updates, and ensures accuracy and consistency of Hofstra University Online Bulletins using the Acalog software system.

Monitors and updates University policies in the Bulletins, including those that flow through the University governance approval process.

Edits all curriculum proposals that flow through the online curriculum system before final review/approval by the supervising Vice Provost.

Facilitates the online curriculum process in academic units of the University.

Trains university employees as needed on how to create, develop, and manage academic curriculum.

Leads special initiatives as assigned.

Creates, updates, and ensures accuracy of all graduate and undergraduate program information for Admissions.

Works with Digital Architecture on product updates, implementation issues, resolving problems, etc.

Works with WebDev, School/College Deans’ offices and department offices on integrating the online Bulletins with Hofstra’s general web presence.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required.

Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience working with data systems and software packages and liaising with internal technology partners to problem-solve and facilitate upgrades.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Pro and possess ability to learn new software.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal stakeholders.

Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience working in higher education.

Awareness of higher education policy and structure.

Familiarity with curriculum development and approval processes.

Editing experience strongly preferred.
