Job DescriptionThe Marketing Communications Specialist is instrumental in key marketing and sales activities for Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS). This role supports the promotion and sale of retirement plans and trusts for local governments and educational agencies nationwide by writing and editing marketing content for a variety of mediums, and providing other sales support as needed. The position would report to the Senior Manager, Consulting and Manager, Marketing Communications and would work hand-in-hand with the Marketing and Sales teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal/Request for Proposal (RFP) Response Writing and Production

Prepare written responses for assigned RFPs and other proposals for public agencies

Work closely with the RFP team to create, write, edit, review and complete RFP responses and proposals by deadline, coordinating with other departments as needed

Assist in tracking outstanding RFP submissions, provide timely follow-up communications (such as interview presentations and questions), and in production of periodic win/loss reports

Monitor and assist with RFP and governmental news tracking systems

Assist in the operation and updating of RFP management software

Marketing Support

Prepare, review, and edit written content for marketing emails, presentations, webinars, website, and promotional materials such as flyers and brochures

Prepare written responses/proposals for requests for speaking roles/presentations for conferences

Manage and support marketing projects and research

Sales Support

Coordinate with various departments to prepare and/or assist in the preparation of sales materials, presentations, proposals, reports, and analyses

Assist with client communications

Provide support for sales meetings

Manage and support sales projects and research

Other duties and special projects as required

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Public Administration, Political Science, English, Journalism, Business Administration, Marketing or Communications

Excellent writing/editing skills, including technical writing, generating new written content, and editing written content for a variety of mediums

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects, tasks and demands

Ability to work without direct supervision and efficiently manage tasks and time

Ability to perform research and analysis related to sales/marketing and public affairs matters

Versatility in marketing and technical writing to prepare a variety of communications

Strong work ethic, critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with public agencies, financial services, and/or retirement plans

Knowledge of local, state, and federal government structures and operations

Experience with marketing and sales communications in various forms, such as long and short form proposals, RFPs, grant writing, and digital marketing

Experience with RFP management software

Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or other pension-related coursework preferred
