Giant Tiger is hiring an

EVP, Store Operations and Franchise Development

to play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of Giant Tiger’s franchise model. Reporting directly to the CEO, the EVP will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational performance of their franchised and corporate stores, while also spearheading initiatives to expand their franchise network and enhance operational efficiency.

This role requires a visionary leader with a proven track record in franchise management, operations, strategic planning, and a deep understanding, interpretation, and execution of Merch strategy. The EVP will be responsible for establishing and working within agreed-upon departmental budgets with the goal of maximizing store profitability and corporate resources.

The EVP will collaborate with senior management to set company strategic priorities and ensure alignment across multiple business groups. They will serve as an ambassador of the Giant Tiger culture, embodying their values and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. They will continuously improve systems, processes, and brand initiatives to drive organizational growth and success. Drive the Locally Owned Franchise Model:

Develop and execute strategies to strengthen partnerships with franchise owners and drive franchisee satisfaction.

Establish and maintain a long-term location and growth strategy to expand the franchise network.

Implement initiatives to improve profitability and operational efficiency across franchised stores.

Collaborate closely with the Merchandising team to support the Merch strategy within store operations and franchise development initiatives.

Ensure Lowest Total Cost of Operations:

Identify opportunities to optimize store performance and processes, focusing on delivering a fast, friendly, and easy in-store experience for customers.

Champion a customer-first approach to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Enable an Owner’s Mindset:

Lead the development of franchisees in training and support offices, fostering action-oriented behaviours that drive Net Promoter Scores.

Provide mentorship and guidance to franchise owners to ensure their success and alignment with corporate objectives.

Do What’s Right at Giant Tiger:

Oversee preventative loss prevention to minimize risks and losses in stores.

Uphold Giant Tiger’s values and culture, promoting a store-first mindset and fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

Intentionally evolve the culture, focusing on delivering exceptional value and service to customers.

Establish a store visit cadence with executives and the board to reinforce the importance of store operations and customer experience.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in retail operations, franchise management, and strategic planning.

Proven track record of success in driving operational excellence and profitability in a multi-unit retail environment.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams at all levels of the organization.

Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate market trends and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with franchise owners, stakeholders, and external partners.

A high level of integrity, ethical conduct, and commitment to transparency is critical for this role. This should be part in parcel with a down-to-earth operating style that conveys confidence but requires little ego.
