Position Overview:

The Food Safety Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in developing and enforcing food safety programs, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and maintaining certifications. This position collaborates directly with the Food Safety Compliance Manager.Responsibilities:Oversee and manage documentation related to SQF standards.Provide necessary records and support for third-party audits of SQF programs.Support various third-party certifications, including Organic, Kosher, and Gluten-Free.Participate in internal audits, addressing and documenting quality or food safety concerns.Contribute to the creation of standards for operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and third-party certifications such as SQF.Implement and maintain Quality and Food Safety procedures, including GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).Manage complaint handling, nonconformance tracking, and vendor CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions) closure.Assist in conducting mock recalls and product traceability exercises.Help in validating Food Defense and Food Fraud prevention protocols.Continuously research industry best practices to enhance allergen separation and minimize cross-contamination risks.Investigate product complaints and identify food safety or quality issues for resolution.Provide assistance for both internal and external inquiries and support requests.Review packaging proofs and assist with internal label verification.Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in food science, engineering, or a related field is required; a relevant discipline is preferred.Previous experience in food manufacturing or a related sector.2-5 years of work experience in Food Quality, Safety, or Regulatory roles.Proven experience in audit compliance and requirements.Familiarity with programs like Organic, Gluten-Free, Kosher, Halal, and Non-GMO is a plus.Certifications such as SQF Practitioner, HACCP, and PCQI are preferred.Proficiency in Electronic Quality Management Systems (EQCMS) and strong organizational skills.Bilingual skills in Spanish are a bonus.Highly self-motivated, proactive thinker with strong business acumen.Benefits and Perks:Competitive salary between $60,000 - $90,000 annually, plus a performance bonus.Comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k) matching.Paid parental leave (maternity, adoption, and paternity).Enjoy a 40% employee discount.
