ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, ZONING

This is an executive level position which reports to the Director of Zoning/Zoning Administrator and is responsible for assisting with directing and overseeing the City's zoning plan review, interpreting the Zoning Ordinance, assisting with code enforcement programs, and the execution of all other zoning related processes.

May direct or assist in directing the activities of one or more divisions through subordinate personnel.

Assists with developing, implementing, and maintaining strategic and fiscal citywide plans.

Assists with the preparation of the budget.

Represents the department at meetings.

Assists with implementing zoning code changes and developing and implementing related training programs.

Assists with developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the interpretation of all applicable laws, ordinances and regulations.

Assists with directing the daily operations of departmental functions.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degreeThorough five (5) years progressively responsible experience interpreting and enforcing zoning or building regulations or reviewing construction plans to determine adherence to codes or ordinancesAnd considerable two (2) years supervisory experience.An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a bachelor’s degree in an aforementioned or a closely related field.Applicants, including City of Miami employees, must upload and submit attached copies of the following documents with the employment application. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: copy of high school diploma, or equivalent, OR any higher accredited degree such as an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's degree or higher.Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies:Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, ORA current member of the
