Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

Position Summary:

The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the renewal and acquisition of charitable giving from businesses and foundations. The individual serves as the primary contact and liaison for cultivation and solicitation of these constituents as a part of the overall advancement function of the University. The position facilitates and secures appropriate and beneficial partnerships within the guidelines of local, state, federal laws as well university and divisional policies and procedures. The position reports to the vice president of advancement, marketing, and communication; and works regularly with faculty, staff, students, alumni, business and civic leaders, foundation representatives, and other external constituents.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or relevant field of study from an accredited institution.

Three to five years’ experience in a non-profit or educational environment with substantive experience in corporate and foundation relations, fundraising, and/or alumni and volunteer relations management.

Ability to identify, cultivate, and solicit corporations and foundations for the education sector.

Proven track record of grant-writing, soliciting, and closing corporate and foundation grants, gifts, and sponsorships in the $25K - $1M+ levels.

Familiarity with annual, major, and capital giving programs as well as comprehensive campaign knowledge.

Experience in using a customer relations management (CRM) database system (Raiser’s Edge preferred).

Familiarity with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the CASE Bill of Rights, the CASE Ethics Guidelines, applicable tax law, and charitable giving principles and best practices.

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Ability to create succinct, accurate, and persuasive reports, proposals, presentations using data and compelling narratives.

Capacity to engage high-level executives, volunteers, and campus constituents in a professional, respectful, and collaborative manner while protecting the interests of the University overall.

Ability to work independently and be a self-starter seeking new opportunities while maintaining established relationships.

Comfortable working in a demanding, fast-paced, and deadline-based environment.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a team and with many diverse constituents.

Valid driver’s license and ability to consistently conduct local, regional, and state travel associated with the execution of the duties described above on a regular basis.

Willingness to work evening and weekend hours for special projects and events.

Successful completion of background check.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements of the Job:

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed primarily in person and in an office setting.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain a dynamic portfolio of donors by strengthening existing relationships with corporate and foundation donors and continually identify, explore, and cultivate new corporate and foundation prospects.

Secure new levels of institutional support through grants, partnerships, sponsorships, fundraising events, and other charitable initiatives.

Create high-quality proposals, grant requests, partnership appeals, letters, emails and related materials to corporations and foundations for cultivation, solicitation, reporting, and stewardship purposes.

Collaborate with other offices as needed for proposal development, approvals, and reports.

Assure timely and accurate reporting of gift usage and impact to CF donors and provide updates on relevant college activities.

Other duties as assigned.

Goals and Accountability:

In collaboration with the vice president for advancement create and execute annual plans to reach established financial goals and strategic objectives.

Achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly fundraising goals.

Develop and produce annual assessment and evaluation report detailing CFR impact.

Protect the reputation of the University by ensuring relationships with donors are legal, ethical, and uphold the University’s mission, vision, and values.

Departmental and Divisional Collaboration:

Participate consistently and collegially in advancement divisional and departmental meetings and maintain proactive partnerships with colleagues.

Partner effectively with the advancement services department to facilitate research and prospect management, accurate record keeping, and support of matching gifts.

In conjunction with the director of donor relations and stewardship execute a program of meaningful recognition.

Work with colleagues to ensure processes and workflows are effective and efficient.

Comport self with integrity, positivity, and respect for others.

Lead and assist with events as assigned.

Assist with other projects or activities as requested by the vice president for advancement.

Campus Collaboration:

Collaborate with colleagues to facilitate a culture of philanthropy, best practices for donor engagement and stewardship with CF, and compliance with University policies and state and federal law.

Conduct regular meetings with University leadership, faculty and staff to identify new opportunities and assure timely progress on priority projects.

Serve as the point person for departments in the development of content for proposals and reports.

Work with the president's cabinet to ensure CFR efforts are coordinated and strategic.

Exhibit integrity, positivity, and respect for others’ roles and responsibilities.

Operate with a desire to be helpful and supportive of campus colleagues’ efforts as it relates to CFR.

Community Engagement:

Participate in community civic and business organizations to identify, facilitate, and secure charitable gifts for the University.

Create and execute fundraising events designed to cultivate relationships and secure major gifts from corporations as assigned.

Professional Development:

Seek professional development opportunities.

Actively review information and publications on the fundraising profession, philanthropy and advancement best practices.
