Location: Cambridge, MassachusettsDepartment: Dean for Student Life - AdministrationSchool Area: Dean for Student LifeEmployment Type: Full-time (Hybrid)Employment Category: ExemptSchedule: To be determinedJob Description:The Senior Director of Communications for the Dean for Student Life will be the primary writer for the Vice Chancellor for Student Life and will be responsible for crafting and editing correspondence for key stakeholders: students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Key responsibilities include:Developing executive-level communications such as letters, emails, video scripts, media statements, and presentations.Representing DSL among campus Communications leaders and supporting requests from the Chancellor’s Office.Ensuring alignment with Institute-level messaging.Serving on teams managing campus emergency communications.Implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to consistently present DSL’s goals and achievements across various channels including emails, websites, videos, and social media.Managing DSL’s website and supporting stewardship efforts.Assisting with speaking engagements and presentations.Building strong relationships with Communications leaders across MIT and collaborating to tell the story of student life.Consulting with DSL department leaders on Communications initiatives and leading a DSL Communicators group to ensure coordination and consistency throughout the division.Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience; reliable writing, communication and collaboration skills; expertise in communications strategy, web technology, Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and multitasking in dynamic environments.This position has a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and on-campus work. The exact hybrid schedule will be determined according to departmental needs. Salary range is $140k-$170K, with the exact offer dependent on experience and equity.
