Recruitment began on June 6, 2024Expires September 18, 2024Graduate Assistants will support faculty in a variety of ways depending on the specific type of assistant role they are selected to perform. Duties may include but are not limited to:Service assistants:Administrative supportEquipment managementWeb site maintenanceRoutine editorial support for publications or social mediaResearch assistants will perform under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator:Duties consisting of data scoring and recordingDelivering assessmentsMaintaining quality control standards to preserve the integrity of data and findingsScheduling and conducting interviewsWriting reports to summarize dataResearching information.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBasic Research SkillsAbility to complete tasks correctly and efficiently with minimal directionRequired QualificationsCurrent DU graduate student enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year in the Library and Information Science (LIS) onsite program.Physical ActivitiesAbility to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.Graduate Assistant EligibilityGXA recipients must be enrolled in an academic program and be in good academic standing during the quarters in which they receive their award (programs/departments may stipulate that the recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student).International students who receive a GXA may need to demonstrate fluency in spoken English by scoring a 26 on the speaking section of the TOEFL, or an 8 on the speaking section of the IELTS and/or by passing the DU GTA English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA).Students cannot simultaneously hold both an assistantship position and a work-study position.For more information regarding eligibility requirements and hiring procedures for graduate assistantships, see the Graduate Assistantship section of the Graduate Bulletin.Time Commitment.25 (quarter-time) GA is required to work approximately 5 hours per week under the direction of the Faculty Supervisor.0.5 (half-time) GA is required to work approximately 10 hours per week under the direction of the Faculty Supervisor.Equal Employment Opportunity Statement & Notice of Background CheckThe University of Denver is an equal opportunity employer.
