Santa Monica Proper Hotel is seeking a dynamic and motivated Sr. Group Sales Manager to join the team at our 267-room property featuring interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, and 24,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving group sales revenue through strategic prospecting, relationship building and account management. This position requires a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in luxury hospitality sales, exceptional communication skills and the ability to deliver on revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Generation & Prospecting: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to generate group business, focusing on corporate, social, and leisure markets; identify and target potential clients through proactive outreach and networking
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, meeting planners and industry professionals; provide exceptional customer service to ensure long-term partnerships and repeat business
  • Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Marketing to create and execute group sales strategies that align with the hotel's revenue goals; monitor market trends and competition to adjust strategies as needed
  • Contract Negotiation: Manage contract negotiations with clients, ensuring that group business is profitable while maintaining brand standards and guest expectations
  • Event Coordination Liaison: Work closely with the events team to ensure seamless coordination of group bookings, including room blocks, event space, catering and other hotel services
  • Revenue Management: Assist with forecasting and budgeting for group sales revenue, analyzing performance metrics, and adjusting sales tactics to maximize profitability
  • Networking & Industry Engagement: Represent the hotel at trade shows, conferences and industry events to increase visibility and drive new business opportunities
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior sales team members, sharing industry knowledge and best practices

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of sales experience in luxury hotels, with a focus on group sales
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets in a competitive market
  • Strong understanding of luxury hotel operations and the boutique segment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strong network within the hospitality industry and local/regional markets
  • Proficiency in hotel sales software (e.g., Delphi, Opera) and CRM systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments to achieve common goals
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
