NaphCare is hiring a

Psychiatrist

to join our Jail Based Treatment Program that operates as a 30-bed adult specialized behavioral health unit at

Washoe County Detention Facility in Reno, NV.The Psychiatrist will maintain overall clinical responsibility for the medication management, including overseeing involuntary medication orders, of patients on the JBTP. The ideal candidate has experience working in a mental health and/or correctional setting, and in working within a multidisciplinary team.The Jail-Based Treatment Program (JBTP) provides specialized behavioral health services for patients awaiting transfer to a state hospital for further psychiatric treatment. The unit is a therapeutic environment, providing intensive day treatment services. By providing patient-centered, evidenced-based, and holistic care, the JBTP seeks to eliminate the need for these patients to transfer to the state hospital or, at a minimum, to decrease their length of stay once hospitalized. The ultimate aim is to assist defendants in moving forward with their legal case and with their lives in a healthier place.NaphCare is partnered with the Washoe County Sheriffs Office to provide this program, which is supported by the SNAMHS and funded through the NV-DHHS Division of Public and Behavioral Health.The Psychiatrist will work with a team of mental health clinicians, a psychiatric nurse, recreational therapist, discharge planner, and data coordinator led and supported by a program director.As a Psychiatrist, have you ever wanted to work somewhere where you can see real results from what you do? with the position and location youre interested in.Equal Opportunity Employer: disability/veteranResponsibilities:Responsibilites of the Psychiatrist:Serve as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment teamMaintains a small caseload of JBTP patients for medication management and documentation, including completion of brief psychiatric assessments for program outcome tracking (e.g., BPRS)Formulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan, and evaluate/modify medication regimens to promote positive patient outcomesOrder laboratory and diagnostic proceduresCompletes psychiatric treatment summaries for discharge summariesCompletes chart reviewsDemonstrate knowledge of DSM-V-TR criteria and psychiatric practice standardsCoordinate JBTP patient population psychiatric care with JBTP Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner(s)Oversees/facilitates involuntary medication orders and administrationsCoordinate with health and correctional staff regarding patients mental health careParticipate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff

Qualifications:Qualifications of the Psychiatrist:Must hold a current, unrestricted Psychiatrist license in

NevadaCurrent DEA registrationA valid CPR cardBoard certificationEligible or qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice psychiatryMust have a minimum of 1-3 years experience in primary specialty of psychiatric careExperience in correctional healthcare or inpatient mental health care highly preferredMust possess strong written communication and verbal skillsMust have strong computer skills
