The Lead-Data Analyst (Epidemiology Research Data & Technical Specialist) will need to use an extensive background of department level technical support, clinical research methodology, and database development. Other main tasks include: - Provide technical support leadership in departmental research data strategies. - Act as handshake resource between study teams and team developers to gather requirements, create flow diagrams and other helpful tools and documentation, leading development and testing of user-facing databases and systems. - Lead troubleshooting of systems and network issues as they present, documenting as needed to find solutions with Information Technology Services and study teams. - Assist and lead in system and application onboarding, capable of expertly and operationally learning new systems.Job Responsibilities:Participate in development of research data strategy supporting departmental and organizational objectives.Provide expert knowledge of industry best practices related to data management, data integration, database documentation, data reporting and visualization, data warehousing).Lead and support development of surveys/questionnaires, corralling study teams as needed, from initial concept on paper to online development.Lead and support development of ePRO and eCOA applications. Liaison with other departmental technical teams to develop online medical risk calculators.Lead the design and implementation of harmonized data models and database solutions for people to query, extract, and visualize data in an efficient manner.Implement and monitor overall data governance strategy in line with organizational expectations, regulatory requirements, and standards.Work with domain experts and other IT staff to develop secure data sharing solutions.Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating operational processes, research needs, and data systems.Research new technologies and tools that will add value to services and data management.Mentor junior team members in data management systems and practices.Investigates and troubleshoots complex data integration issues.Monitor database and data ingest pipeline performance and implement improvements to data systems for on-prem and cloud-based systems.(For Analytics Development) Lead complex projects/processes end-to-end within area (e.g., database development, dashboard design, deployment, advanced data visualization, automated reporting applications, coding, testing, debugging, file maintenance routines, and documentation of both database design and analytics tools).Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.Maintains regular and predictable attendance.Minimum Education and/or Training:Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information science, clinical research, or related field required.Master's degree preferred.Minimum Experience:Minimum requirement: 5+ progressive years of IT experience including strong database design, data architecture and data transform processes.Extensive experience in Microsoft Access, SQL Server, and other relational databases.Experience with wrangling and aggregation.Experience with enterprise reporting tools for development of reports as applicable.Some experience creating dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g. PBI, Tableau, Qlik, and data warehousing applications)Working knowledge of JavaScript, Visual Basic for Applications, other languages.Some experience working in clinical data and reporting environment.Some experience and knowledge in Master Data Management and Data Dictionary Standards.Some experience with regulatory requirements and standards as applicable.Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.Physical Demands and Working Conditions:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; kneel, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.An essential function of the job is to be able to comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.The employee must move about the work space to access work surface and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment that are at, below or above the work surface.Nothing in this job description limits management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time as business needs dictate. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
