A Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer balances advocating for compliance and avoiding being seen as an obstacle. This requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to develop creative solutions that meet both regulatory requirements and business objectives.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Serving as chair of the organization’s Compliance Committee. This includes developing agenda and meeting materials, ensuring meetings are properly documented, working with outside counsel and consultants.
Ensure compliance and privacy policies and procedures reflect current regulatory standards and industry guidance. Collaborate with Department Managers to ensure policies and procedures are effectively implemented across all applicable business lines.
Collaborate with various leaders to conduct compliance investigations. Keep Senior Management and key stakeholders up to date with the results of such investigations.
The ideal candidate will be a solution-focused problem solver with:
At least 5 years of healthcare compliance program leadership experience, preferably in a Dental setting.
Demonstrated track record of effectively working with administrative and clinical leadership to accomplish various compliance program related matters (investigations, initiatives, policy development, etc.).
Ability to work independently to identify bottlenecks in processes and create solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness of business processes.
Developing and overseeing control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
Evaluating the efficiency of controls and improving them continuously.
Revising procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
Draft, modify and implement company policies.
Collaborate with corporate counsels and HR departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations.
Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks.
Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training.
Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
Proven experience as a Regulatory Risk Officer.
In-depth knowledge of the medical industry’s standards and regulations.
Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
An analytical mind able to “see” the complexities of procedures and regulations.
Excellent communication skills.
Certified Risk Management professional is a plus.
Strong ability to prioritize.
Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.
Proven ability to collaborate and advise management on compliance matters, and ability to develop practical business solutions and to facilitate risk management.
