General Description

The division offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of professionals, gain valuable work experience, and develop new skills. Auditors work on teams performing compliance and performance audits of state departments and programs designed to evaluate specific state operations. Travel is estimated to be 0-2 weeks a year.The Senior Performance Auditor position, under the supervision of an In-Charge Auditor or Audit Manager, plans and performs auditing procedures and techniques on major sections of performance and compliance audits, and supervises Staff Performance Auditors. This position is the mid-level performance audit position. The successful applicant will have supervisory experience and a demonstrated knowledge of audit procedures and principles.Minimum Annual Salary:

$95,410 - $101,982

Examples of Duties

Under the direct supervision of In-Charge Auditor or Audit Manager, performs auditing procedures and techniques on major sections of the performance and compliance audits in accordance with Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.

Under supervision of In-Charge Auditor or Audit Manager, assists in preparation of audit reports by drafting findings and appropriate recommendations for improvement that are clear and complete.

Performs entire audits of limited scope under direct supervision of Audit Manager. Responsibilities include planning, testing, and preparing workpapers, and drafting audit reports.

Reviews audit workpapers prepared by subordinate auditors.

Performs all other duties of Staff Performance Auditor in the absence of a Staff Performance Auditor.

Assists in the development of training.

Supervises Staff Performance Auditors.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external contacts, utilizing excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Knowledge of Government Auditing Standards.Knowledge of workpaper best practices.Skilled in managing projects.Ability to mentor staff and intern auditors.Skilled in using relevant software programs, such as Excel and Word, and the ability to learn new software programs.Ability to develop audit plans, evaluate operations, and coordinate fieldwork.Ability to evaluate business processes, identify risks, and identify controls that should be in place.Ability to read, comprehend, and analyze information.Ability to research and interpret federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.Ability to interpret and implement new auditing pronouncements.Ability to maintain confidential information.Ability to lead and work in a team environment and foster a positive work atmosphere.Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet frequent deadlines.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.Possess a valid driver's license.Minimum Qualifications

An applicant who has either:Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, math, humanities, data analytics, business, public administration, or related field

AND

at least 2 years of experience in performance auditing, program evaluation, policy analysis, or related experience,

ORMaster’s degree in the social sciences, math, humanities, business, or public administration and 1 year of experience in the above fields.ANDHas a minimum GPA of 3.25 from an accredited university or college in a field relevant to this position.Contact Information
