$65,000 - $75,000POSITION SUMMARYThe Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) is a fully-funded exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. YSEALI PFP provides emerging leaders from Southeast Asia the opportunity to spend five to six weeks in the United States gaining professionally relevant fellowship experiences at non-profit, public, or private sector organizations. The program is designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance Fellows' leadership and professional skills, and build lasting and sustainable partnerships between emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and the United States. YSEALI PFP is administered under four Institute themes: Civic Engagement; Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Empowerment; Society and Governance; Sustainability and the Environment. The YSEALI PFP countries include Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. Follow-on reciprocal exchanges provide select American professionals the opportunity to visit Southeast Asia to further enhance two-way exchange, support, and knowledge sharing with YSEALI PFP alumni in their home communities.American Councils is seeking a mid-level professional experienced in implementing international exchange programs for Americans traveling to Southeast Asia. The Specialist will design, coordinate, and implement U.S. exchange projects tied to YSEALI Professional Fellows Program. The Specialist will report to the YSEALI PFP Consortium Manager and will work closely with other members of the YSEALI PFP team in Washington, D.C. as well as with partners around the U.S. The position is a hybrid role based in American Councils' Washington, D.C. based office with two days a week expected to be in person.This position is contingent upon funder approval.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the full process working with YSEALI PFP Fellows, U.S. partners, and other YSEALI PFP team members to lead the recruitment, selection, and implementation of approximately 80 - 110 U.S. reciprocal exchange projects annually in the 11 YSEALI PFP countries.Manage all aspects of the logistical and fiscal arrangement for Reciprocal Exchanges including coordinating international travel, grant payments to Fellows, and supporting U.S. participants in obtaining the relevant visas.Manage communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring relevant information is distributed as required, including the implementation of pre-departure orientations with U.S. Fellows.Collaborate with cross-functional teams at American Councils to build and manage an online application and database for the reciprocal exchange projects and participants.In coordination with the YSEALI PFP Consortium Manager, develop and implement new approaches to marketing the reciprocal exchange opportunity to eligible participants and support U.S. partners in sharing the opportunity with YSEALI PFP Fellows and in U.S. host communities.Lead efforts to monitor, evaluate and report on the reciprocal exchange, including bi-weekly updates to the funder.Develop strategies and procedures to mitigate risk on program for U.S. participants.Be the responsible point of contact for coordinating any emergency response on reciprocal exchanges in coordination with the Consortium Manager and Program Director.Other relevant tasks, as required.Qualifications

Minimum three years coordinating U.S. government-funded exchange programs.Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English. Experience copy editing and working in customer service is a plus.A record of success implementing complex logistical international travel or event planning for large programs.Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and SharePoint.Proven ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize multiple, complex ongoing projects.Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment.Ability to present recommendations and to gain agreement for pursuit decisions.Ability to leverage organizational, analytical, and programmatic expertise to both mitigate risk and maximize programmatic impact.Familiarity with the cultures and geography of Southeast Asia is preferred but not required.BENEFITS
