The mission of ULI is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.POSITION SUMMARY:ULI Washington, a district council of ULI, delivers this mission throughout the Metropolitan Washington Region through a variety of engagement programs and events. Events take place in different formats, including virtual, hybrid, and in-person. With approximately 2000 members who represent the spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines, ULI Washington is among the largest District Councils in the United States, and serves as a central convener of thought leadership in the Metropolitan Washington Region.ULI Washington is supported by a lean and entrepreneurial staff. Together, the ULI Washington team works in partnership with each other and with volunteer member committees and leaders to cultivate programming for the district council. Because in-person events occur throughout the region, it is required that the Manager possess the ability and desire to (1) travel to and (2) be present at and support events – some of which extend beyond traditional work-day hours (e.g., breakfasts and evening events). When not staffing events or meeting in-person with ULI members or fellow teammates, ULI Washington has a culture of flexibility with remote working, though we maintain an expectation of meeting in the office at a minimum of one day per week, with more in-office presence required during weeks of heavy programs. It is also expected that the Manager will spend more time in the office during onboarding.SALARY:

The salary range for this position has been set at $65,200 to $69,250. Actual salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and other job-related factors. The range listed is just one component of ULI’s total compensation package for employees which includes a full and competitive benefits package.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as lead program manager for ULI Washington’s Leadership Institute and UrbanPlan programs. Tasks include stewarding member committees, recruiting speakers and volunteers to serve as panelists facilitators, liaising with partner organizations and vendors, maintaining calendar of programs, managing programmatic budgets, cultivating program alumni.Oversee activities related to member engagement and program administration, including staffing volunteer member committees; setting and adhering to committee planning schedules; attending committee meetings; setting agenda with committee co-chairs; recording minutes; managing the production and implementation of meetings/events; ensuring that assignments are carried forth between committee meetings; and managing additional aspects of committee work.Work with ULI member program committees along with staff on program coordination, ensuring effective program delivery.Manage volunteers; balancing delegating some tasks and assuming responsibility for other tasks.Provide support for additional events and programs as needed, including attending and staffing member engagement events.Work as a member of a team to develop programming and initiatives that further the mission of ULI Washington.Maintain frequent, professional interactions with ULI Washington volunteer members.Develop and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, public agencies, community leaders, elected officials, and other industry professionals.Communicate ULI Washington’s progress and initiatives with public, private, and non-profit organizations, and when appropriate, seek opportunities to expand strategic partnerships to advance the District Council’s mission.Provide general support for other ULI Washington programs and broader district council operations, including budgeting and communications.QUALIFICATIONS:3-5 years of related experience in the public, private or non-profit sector working in urban planning, land use, or related field. An understanding of local and regional land use planning and real estate development issues, knowledge of key local and regional players in the field.Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to build relationships with ULI members and other partners to encourage their commitment and contribution to programs and initiatives.Proven project management skills and the ability to manage several projects at once.Creative and tactful negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Ability to initiate tasks and assume responsibility, and to work with minimal supervision in a high production position, demonstrated success at managing competing priorities effectively.Ability and desire to work in a distributed team environment.Ability to travel throughout the Metropolitan Washington Region (including Washington, DC and suburban Maryland and Virginia) to different meetings and venues.
