Job SummaryThe primary role of the Branch Manager is to manage and lead the overall performance of a retail branch office. The Branch Manager is responsible for developing new retail and commercial client relationships and expanding existing relationships utilizing professional sales techniques to identify and meet client needs. The manager works in cooperation with branch staff to achieve deposit and loan production goals, as well as fee income objectives, while continuing to support a positive team atmosphere, participating in community business events, initiating cold calling, and attending numerous networking opportunities. Effectively works with all internal personnel from all areas of the company to send and accept referrals, cross-sells products and services, and refers clients to sales personnel in other business lines.

Essential Job Functions

The Branch Manager accepts 100% ownership of branch production goals for deposits, loans, fee income, and other goals that may be assigned.

Directs efforts of other branch staff in coordination of achieving these goals.

Efforts may include sales techniques such as profiling, outside business, development calls, and cold calling via telephone to generate new business.

Holds weekly branch meetings to promote ideas for meeting/exceeding business plan goals and to review operations, sales, and service topics.

Supervises and coaches branch staff to enhance and ensure a thorough understanding of all bank products and services.

Ensures that all branch office platform and customer service employees are completely knowledgeable with the bank’s online banking products.

Maintains good general knowledge of credit standards and loan processing procedures for retail and small business loans.

Ensures that all bank clients (external and internal) receive prompt, friendly, and efficient service, meeting the highest possible standards for quality customer service; provides regular and immediate feedback to staff on areas in need of attention.

Responsible for the daily operations of the retail branch office; ensures procedures are followed as prescribed in the bank’s branch office operations manual.

Ensures proper signature authorizations are obtained, cash tickets are completed correctly, and cash security is maintained both at the teller line and in the vault.

The Branch Office Manager is responsible for the general daily physical appearance of the branch office and reports any significant issues needing attention to management; represents the bank, organizes or participates for the bank in company-sponsored community events; ensures branch compliance with all audit and security guidelines and policies and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

High school degree.

3 years of retail banking experience and strong knowledge of branch operations.

Strong knowledge of retail and commercial banking products and services.

Familiarity with regulations, audit, and security procedures.

Ability to effectively lead, coach, and motivate the staff.

Ability to focus on tasks and be detail-oriented.

Strong analytical skills.

Excellent written and verbal skills.

Solid problem-solving skills.

Computer skills to include work in Windows-based applications.

Abilities Required

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to prepare business correspondence.

Advanced interpersonal skills.

Experience with bank systems for both platform and teller line processing systems.
