Job Overview:A growing boutique law firm specializing in employment and family law is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a law firm environment (or equivalent), strong business acumen, and solid human resource skills. The COO will have considerable autonomy and authority to improve operational efficiencies and enhance profitability while driving firm-wide goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will have primary responsibility and authority to lead and manage several key functions within the firm:

Key Responsibilities:

Finance:Oversee planning, forecasting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, billing, and collections.Manage cash flow, banking relationships, tax planning, trust accounting, payroll, insurance programs, pension, and retirement plans.Human Resources:Lead recruitment, hiring, training, management, and evaluation of non-lawyer administrative and support staff.Administer salaries, benefits, workers' compensation, personnel data systems, job design, and resource allocation.Facilities Management:Ensure remote employees are equipped with the necessary tools and supplies.Oversee records management, disaster recovery, mail/messenger services, and other facilities management functions.Manage equipment acquisition and vendor selection.Operations & Management:Lead strategic and tactical planning, risk management, quality control, and organizational development.Oversee firm-wide planning processes and general management functions.Marketing & Business Development:Conduct client profitability analysis and contribute to business development strategies.Manage marketing, public relations, collateral materials, and website development.Enhance the firm’s visibility and image in target markets.Qualifications:A minimum of 5 years of experience in law firm administration or an equivalent field.Experience in a Family Law or Employment Law Firm is a plus.Strong human resources and financial management skills are essential.MBA and/or CPA degree preferred.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proven problem-solving abilities and a collaborative team player.A 'firm-first' attitude, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment alongside motivated professionals.Why Apply?This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership role in a growing law firm, offering both autonomy and the chance to directly impact the firm’s success and profitability.
