Job Summary: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm’s operational support functions ensuring efficiency, quality, and profitability, working closely with the head of Studio Operations, Client Development, and Human Resources to align and integrate processes across support service functions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership:Oversee the daily operations of the firm, ensuring projects are delivered within established standards across market sectors.

Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and make data-driven decisions to enhance firm performance.

2. Strategic Planning:Collaborate with the President and executive team to execute the firm's strategic plan approved by the Board.

Pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets.

Ensure alignment of operational activities with the firm’s strategic goals.

3. Financial Management:Manage budget adherence and financial performance, ensuring financial health and sustainability, including reporting to the Board and other key stakeholders.

Analyze financial reports and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.

Collaborate with the finance team to prepare forecasts for financial and operational performance.

4. Team Leadership:Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and technology staff.

Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, professional growth, and high performance.

Implement effective communication channels within the firm to ensure transparency and collaboration.

5. Compliance and Risk Management:Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practices.

Identify and mitigate operational risks to the firm.

Manage corporate insurance plans and work with outside legal counsel.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

15+ years of operations management experience with strong financial acumen, preferably in the professional services, architecture, or construction industries.

Proven leadership experience with a track record of building, leading and coaching a team of operations professionals in a multi-office environment.

Must have demonstrated track record of success in implementing strategic initiatives to improve support processes and financial performance.

Exceptional executive presence with a strong understanding and ability to manage multiple and complex business issues.

Excellent financial communication abilities and experience with budgeting and financial management with a strong understanding of profit and loss drivers.

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive and impactful working relationships at all levels of the organization.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as ERP systems and Excel.
