Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

5+ years of editorial, content acquisition, or publishing experience with a proven track record of managing commercially successful titles and negotiating deal terms

Experience managing and growing new author/agent/publisher relationships

Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data to drive decision-making and measure results

Demonstrated project management skills and ability to navigate competing priorities and get things done in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Overview:

Amazon Publishing is seeking an innovative and market-savvy Senior Acquisitions Editor to acquire and publish audiobooks across fiction and nonfiction genres. You will be responsible for discovering and acquiring exceptional content, building new acquisitions pipelines, managing author, agent, and publisher relationships, and developing strategies for growing our audiobook business. This is a multi-faceted job in a start-up environment that requires flexibility, agility, and complex decision-making. Strong judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, deep knowledge of publishing trends, and a passion for authors and innovation are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify, evaluate, and acquire submissions, including monitoring trend and sales data

Develop and maintain relationships with agents and publishers, including leading negotiations and renewing license terms

Work closely with internal teams (e.g., production, marketing) to shepherd titles through publication and beyond

Design and implement strategies that encourage growth and innovation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $130,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $216,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
