Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a qualified Java Application Developer to support The Department of Energy’s Energy Information Assistance Organization. EIA is responsible for building, collecting, analyzing, and disseminating independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment, which is then reported to other government agencies, including the White House.
Edgewater Federal Solutions is working with EIA to modernize their current technology architecture as well as maintaining their current technology structure. Edgewater’s focus is to implement new technology that can help make EIA’s reporting more efficient.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will help our client in upgrading multiple legacy systems and then follow-up with the Operations and Maintenance of this project. There is ample opportunity to learn about other technologies as well. The candidate shall leverage new technologies to support the IT transformation development and implementation project and provide the content, format, and level of detail required for each deliverable/requirement of the information system.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at least 7 years of professional experience. This will be challenging work on a mission-critical business system. Knowledge of 24/7 uptime systems and release procedures is desirable.
* 7+ years of industry experience
7+ years of design and development experience in OOP, Java/JEE, EJB, JSP, JDBC, and related technologies
Thorough familiarity with writing Java code, creating Enterprise Java Beans and servlets.
Thorough familiarity with WebSphere or similar Enterprise Java server. The candidate should be able to administer these servers.
Thorough familiarity with Web Services and development of web applications; the candidate should be very familiar with Tomcat.
Experience with at least one major RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL)
Should be familiar with UNIX/LINUX, should know Shell scripts.
Excellent understanding of basic computer science concepts - parsing, binary searches, linked lists, etc.
Ability to understand and address complex problems and systems.
Openness to learning new technologies.
Java or other technical certification highly desired.
Requirements (Must be US Citizen and have ability to obtain HSPD- 12 Security Clearance):
At least 7 years of industry experience
Driven and dedicated, looking for professional growth
Friendly, customer facing with excellent written and verbal communication skills
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline required
Must be able to work for any employer
