OverviewEdgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a qualified Java Application Developer to support The Department of Energy. Edgewater Federal Solutions is working with DOE to modernize their current technology architecture as well as maintaining their current technology structure. Edgewater's focus is to implement new technology that can help make DOE's reporting more efficient.
The selected candidate will help our client in upgrading multiple legacy systems and then follow-up with the Operations and Maintenance of this project. There is ample opportunity to learn about other technologies as well. The candidate shall leverage new technologies to support the IT transformation development and implementation project and provide the content, format, and level of detail required for each deliverable/requirement of the information system.
Responsibilities
You will design and develop applications using OOP, Java/JEE, EJB, JSP, JDBC, and related technologies.
You will be writing Java code, creating Enterprise Java Beans and servlets.
The technical environment uses Tomcat, RDBMS (Oracle, SQLServer, DB2, MySQL), WebSphere or similar Enterprise Java server where you may administer these servers.
You will be writing Shell scripts within a UNIX/LINUX environment.
Knowledge of 24/7 uptime systems and release procedures is desirable.
Upgrading multiple legacy systems and then follow-up with the Operations and Maintenance on this project.
The candidate shall leverage new technologies to support the IT transformation development and implementation project and provide the content, format, and level of detail required for each deliverable/requirement of the information system.
Qualifications
7+ years of industry experience including design and development experience in OOP, Java/JEE, EJB, JSP, JDBC, and related technologies.
Thorough familiarity with writing Java code, creating Enterprise Java Beans and servlets.
Thorough familiarity with WebSphere or similar Enterprise Java server.
Thorough familiarity with Web Services and development of web applications; the candidate should be very familiar with Tomcat.
Experience with at least one major RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL).
Should be familiar with UNIX/LINUX, should know Shell scripts.
Excellent understanding of basic computer science concepts - parsing, binary searches, linked lists, etc.
Ability to understand and address complex problems and systems.
Openness to learning new technologies.
Java or other technical certification highly desired.
Requirements (Must be US Citizen and have ability to obtain HSPD-12 Security Clearance)
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline required.
