NIMH seeks a motivated, Supervisory Technical Information Specialist to serve as the Chief of the Electronic Communications Branch (ECB) in the Office of Science Policy, Planning, and Communications (OSPPC). The ECB provides strategic planning, leadership, implementation, and evaluation of the overall strategy for NIMH’s digital presence. The incumbent will serve as the Chief of the ECB, with responsibility for providing supervision, direction, and oversight for the programs and activities of the Branch.Position Duties

As the ECB Chief, the incumbent is responsible for a full range of planning, research, and analysis of activities designed to formulate and advance the digital dissemination goals of OSPPC. In collaboration with OSPPC leadership, the incumbent will develop a clear strategic roadmap that includes implementing and maintaining strategies for presenting NIMH content across digital media channels.In addition, the incumbent will provide technical authority and expert leadership for planning, evaluation, design, functionality, usability, accessibility, and content of NIMH’s website, intranet, and other digital media. The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of website information architecture, technical content strategy, metadata, indexing, taxonomy, and organization.The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of federal staff and oversight of contract staff and operational activities of the ECB, establishing short- and long-term goals, operational plans, and strategic direction and priorities. The incumbent will manage the ECB resources including budgetary needs, contracts, software, tools, and licenses. The ECB Chief will continually explore new technologies and tools to enhance the Branch’s efficiency in achieving its goals and objectives.Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a strong communications background with experience translating technical knowledge into plain language for various audiences. The candidate must have experience developing and evaluating electronic communications products for a variety of audiences. Ability to supervise a team of federal and contract staff, manage projects, and work in a team environment coordinating with other staff and organizations to accomplish electronic communications activities. Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, supervise, and execute multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
