About the Role:

As an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in DEA's Energy Business Unit, you will provide the technical design and execution of power utility projects throughout the Midwest and Western United States. You will be responsible for developing the design for transmission-level projects in PLS-CADD. Responsibilities will include drafting, design, and review of all project deliverables associated with transmission line design. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, sharing knowledge and leveraging each other's technical abilities to deliver high-quality results. This position offers growth opportunities for professional advancement and increased responsibility.

The location for this hybrid-friendly position is flexible with a preference for individuals who are based near one of DEA's offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Fully remote may be considered depending on circumstances. Some travel for project execution may be required.

Responsibilities:

Exemplify DEA's Cultural Drivers internally and externally.

Participate in teams of engineers and technicians in overhead line design from 34.5 kV through 230 kV, or higher.

Provide quality control reviews of work completed by peers.

Manage project tasks: maintain technical, budget, and schedule performance.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, team members, contractors, and vendors.

Communicate effectively vertically and horizontally; internally and externally.

Promote effective team working relationships and maintain the technical quality of work.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering or similar.

Engineer in Training or ability to obtain EIT status within 6 months.

1+ years of electrical engineering experience.

Experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.

The ability to communicate well, develop innovative solutions, and be knowledgeable about substations, transmission and distribution lines.

Knowledge of AutoCAD and Bentley Microstation.

Strong teamwork and written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree from an ABET accredited university in Electrical with a focus on Power System Studies.

Underground high voltage design.

Capabilities with overhead transmission electrical studies, such as induction, losses, grounding, shielding, and insulation coordination.

Familiarity with transmission and collection system design, construction, and commissioning.

Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD.

Experience working with contractors in Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) delivery format through project commissioning.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $111,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience; will vary by location.
