Practice Overview:

Ankura’s Transaction Advisory Services (“TAS”) practice provides a holistic approach to transaction diligence and execution. Transactions in today’s complex business environment demand agility, focus, and precise execution. Our team has executed transactions on six continents and in virtually every industry, advising clients across the transaction lifecycle.

Role Overview:

The Ankura TAS practice is seeking a Managing Director to lead the newly created M&A Transaction Tax practice. You will provide strategic tax advice and guidance on complex mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in tax planning and consulting, as well as a deep understanding of M&A transactions.

We will consider remote locations.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of tax professionals in providing strategic tax advice and guidance for complex mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Assist in business development and go-to-market efforts.

Advise clients on M&A tax planning strategies.

Provide tax advice on M&A transactions.

Perform corporate tax planning and statutory compliance.

Assist in establishing and managing M&A tax structures.

Analyze and review financial and operational processes of M&A transactions.

Liaise with government authorities on tax matters.

Conduct research projects on tax-related M&A topics.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.

Assist in training and developing team members.

Participate in internal and external tax seminars and workshops.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Professional certifications such as JD or CPA preferred.

8+ years corporate tax experience with an international accounting firm, law firm, or large corporation.

Solid understanding of corporate tax planning fundamentals, including statutory compliance, and experience in providing tax advice on mergers and acquisitions.

Good understanding of federal tax and state and local tax (“SALT”).

Excellent knowledge of the tax regulations applicable to M&A transactions.

Desire to engage in business development activities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Inventive, resourceful, with excellent analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills.

Strong supervisory and project management experience.

Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to manage multiple engagements.

Self-driven, self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced deal environment.

Willingness to travel as needed (less than 15%).
