Director of Warehouse Operations

to join our team located in Houston, TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAs the Director of Warehouse Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations within our organization. This role requires strategic planning, leadership, and operational expertise to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of our warehouse facilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, improve productivity, and uphold high standards of quality and safety.

Strategic Planning :

Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize warehouse operations in alignment with company objectives.

Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and enhanced efficiency.

Set performance goals and metrics to measure the success of warehouse operations.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of warehouse supervisors, managers, and staff.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the warehouse team.

Provide guidance, training, and resources to ensure the development and success of team members.

Inventory Management :

Oversee inventory control processes, including receiving, storage, tracking, and distribution of goods.

Implement inventory management procedures to maintain accurate inventory levels and minimize variances.

Work collaboratively with the Director of Supply Chain to analyze inventory data to forecast demand, optimize stock levels, and reduce carrying costs for company-owned products.

Inbound and Outbound Operations:

Work collaboratively with the Customer Service team to coordinate inbound and outbound transportation operations.

Collaborate with transportation providers and third-party logistics partners to ensure timely receiving and shipping operations.

Monitor and optimize receiving and shipping functions to streamline workflows and reduce labor hours.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards governing warehouse operations.

Implement and enforce best practices for workplace safety, equipment maintenance, and hazardous material handling.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential risks and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting :

Develop KPIs and performance metrics to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations.

Monitor key performance indicators, analyze performance data, and identify areas for improvement.

Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with other departments, including sales, finance, and technology, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of 3PL services.

Partner with Sales Teams to drive business growth and deliver customer-centric solutions that set McLane Global apart from the competition.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Proven experience (10+ years) in warehouse management or logistics leadership roles.

Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics best practices.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software applications.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, optimize processes, and drive operational excellence.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Engineering background is a plus.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Certification in supply chain management or logistics (e.g., CSCMP, APICS) is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Warehouse Operations walking and standing throughout the day working with Warehouse Leadership and Associates.

Keyboarding - (Up to 8 hours per day) Entering text or data into a computer by means of a keyboard. Devices include a traditional keyboard, 10 keypads, a touch screen, and others.

Sitting/Standing - (Up to 8 hours per day) The ability to alternate between sitting and standing at a desk is present when a worker has the flexibility to choose between sitting or standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by scheduled breaks and/or lunch period.

Communication Verbally - (Up to 8 hours per day) Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
