Reports directly to the Supervisor, Sample Processing. Processes laboratory samples daily under broad supervision of the Supervisor. Performs all procedures according to established SOPs. Participates in various trainings as required. Maintains highest standards in the laboratory and always follows all GXP guidelines.PERFORMANCE GOALS:
Provides professional-level laboratory sample processing.Performs multistage purifications, other assays, and tests; the propagation of non-animal specimens and cell cultures; the preparation of tissues, chemicals, and/or living subjects for testing.Logs and enters computer records of sample identity data and sample processing data.Maintains and updates the laboratory LIMS system in real time.Reviews SOPs on a weekly basis, and completes trainings on all SOP revisions in a timely manner.Inventory, store, and track extracted samples in a variety of freezer storage systems.Completes all activity logs and maintenance logs for any samples processed according to Good Documentation Practices.Responsible for complying with the designated training and certification schedule (Yearly Competencies, Continuing Education Credits, etc.).COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrated ability to perform complex laboratory tasks according to established SOP under broad supervision.Demonstrated ability to read and understand scientific data, charts, and graphs.Good general knowledge of biology and chemistry.Good communication, interpersonal, organizational, math and analytical skills.Must be able to read and understand technical documents, operate scientific instruments and computers, perform detailed work, and manage multiple tasks.QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.A combination of two years college-level science curriculum plus two years laboratory technician or relevant laboratory research-study experience carrying out research protocols and tests may substitute for the degree.Prefer experience in working with STARLIMS or equivalent systems, DNA and/or biochemical extraction, blood cell separation, laboratory reagent preparation and biohazardous material handling.Requires knowledge of scientific empirical procedures.SAMPLED is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer (M/F/Disabled/Veteran)
