Position Summary:The Head of School, often referred to as the Principal, reporting directly to the CLHSA Superintendent, oversees the daily operations of Lutheran East, a 9th-12th grade school. Lutheran East's mission is to “prepare and equip students to excel in service, leadership, and learning while living as disciples who are rooted and grounded in the love of Christ”. The Head of School will lead the implementation of this mission through strategic planning. The Head of School leads an Administrative Team made up of a Vice Principal of Curriculum & Instruction, a Vice Principal of Admissions, a Vice Principal of School Culture, an Athletic Director, and a School Counseling Department. In addition, all of the faculty report directly to the Head of School. The Head of School will work with the office of the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association on all business functions of the school.Qualifications:The Head of School will have experience in private, Christian educational administration as well as teaching ministry. At a minimum, the Head of School will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field. A Master's Degree or higher in Educational Leadership or Business Administration is desired. The Head of School will have experience in managing and evaluating employees, designing and implementing strategic plans, and will be a competent public speaker. The Head of School will be an active member of their Christian church and have experience leading from a Gospel-centered perspective. Preference will be given to candidates who are rostered members of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The Head of School will share the vision and mission of the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association.Duties and Responsibilities:-Provide Spiritual Leadership over all aspects of the Lutheran East student experience-Develop and maintain a culture of grace while balancing Law & Gospel throughout the school community-Lead and manage the LE Administrative team to accomplish school goals and provide an excellent, Christ-centered educational experience for all students-Provide leadership for the Academic offerings of Lutheran East-Complete all required Department of Education & Workforce reports, including yearly DEW School Choice applications, Average Daily Membership and Nonpublic Data School reports, Mandated Services, and School Safety Plans-Oversee budget development and implementation*-Determine personal goals for all Administrators on the Admin Bonus system*-Yearly evaluations of all faculty and administrators-Maintain Cognia & NSLA Accreditation-Hire and fire all LE employees (in accordance with CLHSA policies and the Operating Board)*-Update faculty handbook yearly-Lead faculty meetings and plan LE Professional Development-Plan Agenda with the LE Operating Board Chair and provide detailed school report at each meeting of the Operating Board*-Report to the CLHSA Board of Directors and Delegates on Lutheran East business-Lead Strategic Planning and implementation for Lutheran East-Onboard all new LE employees-Plan Commencement ceremony*-Oversee the Transportation and Cafeteria Departments-Develop the Master Schedule and School Calendar*-Participate in and provide leadership to Development efforts, including Capital Campaign*-Act as the public face of Lutheran East in the Lutheran community and at extracurricular events-Create and maintain a safe school environment-Develop best-in-class educational and extracurricular programming for students across grades 9-12-Meet regularly with CLHSA Superintendent, CLHSA Finance Director, and CLHSA Communications Director to discuss relevant happenings and upcoming events-Convene monthly meetings with counterparts at Lutheran East to maintain strong relationships and collaborations between CLHSA schools-Participate in Ohio Lutheran Principal's meetings convened by the LCMS Ohio DistrictHead of School Requirements:-Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education; Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or Business Administration preferred-10+ years experience in Administration and Teaching-Deep understanding of and commitment to Lutheran, Christian education and the mission of the CLHSA-Excellent verbal and written communication skills-Experience in strategic planning and implementation-Ability to prioritize among many projects, work as part of at team, and think analytically-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships* item involves working with the Board, the Superintendent, or other Administrative Team members
