HomePlate started in 2005 with a vision of helping youth in houseless and unstably housed situations find stability. We operate youth drop-in, street outreach, employment, education, and housing navigation services, connecting 900+ at-risk youth with community members each year.OverviewThe overall responsibility of the Director of Development & Communications is to develop and lead a fundraising and communications strategy that will provide the resources necessary for HomePlate to achieve its mission.Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:DevelopmentAnnual creation of the fundraising strategy and plan including lines of revenue from the annual fund, major gifts, corporate sponsorship, foundation grants, and government grants.Steward donors alongside the Executive Director.Develop and monitor fundraising project budgets.Manage and delegate responsibility to the Development Associate and Volunteer Coordinator.Support the Board Development Committee in executing the development plan.Strategically deploy the Executive Director in development efforts.Partner with and manage the contract grant writer.Lead gala committee in planning and execution of fundraising events.CommunicationsCreate content for and oversee the newsletter and social media.Produce the annual report.Lead the creation of “case for support” messaging.Identify and amplify youth stories that describe impact.Educate the public on suburban homelessness.Organizational LeadershipIntegral part of the leadership team.Participate in and occasionally lead staff meetings.Commitment to the mission of HomePlate Youth Services.Demonstrate commitment to ongoing equity and anti-racist work.Supervise and mentor direct reports.Preference of experience in the following:Overseeing and implementing a development program with diverse funding sources.Establishing trusting relationships with donors and volunteers.Using data to measure fundraising performance.Writing press releases and speaking on behalf of the organization.Desired SkillsHighly ethical; adheres to community-centric fundraising principles.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Comfortable with public speaking.HomePlate values diversity in its workforce and is an equal opportunity employer.
