Job Overview:
The Environmental Attorney will advise clients on environmental legal matters, including compliance, permitting, and transactional issues. They will also handle litigation support and business development activities. Duties: Create legal documents, including memoranda, briefs, motions, contracts, and regulatory agreements Conduct legal research on environmental, land use, and administrative law at federal, state, and local levels Advise clients on permitting, compliance, enforcement actions, and remedial requirements Manage client relationships and participate in business development activities Represent clients in administrative or court hearings, including drafting and responding to discovery requests Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality Stay updated on legal developments and industry trends Requirements: 2-6 years of experience in federal and state environmental and land use law Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan or eligible for admission by anticipated start date Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA, and state equivalents Strong organizational and project management skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Sound judgment and decision-making abilities Proficiency in legal research and writing Experience with solid and hazardous waste facilities is a plus Portable book of business preferred Education & Certifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school State Bar admission in Michigan or eligibility for admission Skills: Legal drafting and document creation Legal research using online resources Client relationship management Litigation support and case management Business development and networking
