Digital Design Manager (EP - Platform Tech & Dev)

Texas Instruments, Dallas, Texas, United States, 75215

We can't predict what the future holds, but we know Texas Instruments will have a part in shaping it.As a member of the Embedded Processors team, you will be working on state-of-the-art processors and microcontrollers to make the world smarter, safer, and greener. These products are the heart of autonomous vehicles, intelligent robots, electric vehicles, and energy-efficient homes and push the boundaries of technology integrating high-speed interface controllers, networking accelerators, deep learning accelerators, ARM/RISC-V compute cores, vision analytics, security, and multimedia. You will help build products that will transform the world by making technology reachable, affordable, and accessible for all.About the Job

The job offers opportunity to manage as well as design, architect, and micro-architect IPs enabling data movement, interconnect, safety, security, real-time functionality, and broader infrastructure components to help develop Embedded Processors. As an IP design engineer, you will be part of a team with a charter to develop infrastructure IPs that solve our customers’ challenges primarily in the automotive and industrial space. As an IP owner, you will drive the requirements gathering, design, and implementation of the IPs to ensure that differentiated IP meets all functional requirements as well as holds high quality standards. As an IP Manager, you could be managing an IP design team driving execution while finding innovative solutions to customers’ problems through “out of the box thinking” to deliver highly differentiated products. Candidates must have both good communication skills and solid digital design experience. You will interface with various engineering teams within Processor including SoC design, verification, validation, test, systems, SW, applications, and marketing to successfully develop new IPs from concept to design. Expertise in data movement and bus protocols (AMBA, OCP, etc.) is a must and knowledge of interrupt, security, safety, coherence is desirable.Job Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Leading and managing a team of Engineers developing infrastructure IPs for TI ProcessorsDriving IP requirement definition till release to market, working closely with all cross-functional teamsDefining or enhancing the micro-architecture for Digital IP blocksRTL development and QC flows (Lint, CDC, synthesis) to ensure superior IP qualityInterface with 3rd party IP vendors and drive requirements and delivery milestones/qualityWork closely with IP verification team to help build the IP verification plan, tests, and support functional debugsSupport IP during silicon bring-up activities, test program development, customer engagement, and silicon/application debugDrive IP architectural optimization for area, power, and performance improvementsMinimum Requirements

10+ years of experience in design/RTL/DV development and relevant experience in team leadershipBachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of studyPreferred Qualifications:

Expertise in data movement, SOC integration concepts, bus-protocols (AMBA i.e. AXI, CHI, AHB, APB, etc.) and exposure to ARM CPU cores, DDRMust know Verilog languageSimulation tools like NCsim, code coverage, and debug toolsLint checkers, Clock domain crossing (CDC) checkers, Synthesis and timing-closureA good understanding of digital functionality and exposure to digital design methodsHands-on front-end design experience of complex multi-clock domain IP blocksAbility to convert high-level system requirements/changes into micro-architectural changes and then into RTLAbility to extract the functionality/micro-architecture of existing design even with sparse legacy documentationFamiliarity with verification environments to be able to actively participate in functional debugsUnderstand and own in detail the functional specifications of the IPsParticipate in and conduct design reviews.
