About the Opportunity

The Minnesota Jewish Community Center is hiring a Senior Director of Jewish Arts & Culture to join our organization. The Senior Director of Jewish Arts & Culture will lead and oversee the Minnesota Jewish Community Center’s multi-disciplinary Arts and Culture Programs and team. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive and inclusive program of Jewish cultural arts. This includes visual arts, film, music, dance, theater, literature, Jewish education, and other cultural initiatives. Shared and dedicated programming spaces include galleries, exhibition walls, theatre, performing arts spaces, and classrooms.

Essential Functions

Serve as a visionary for the development of Minnesota JCC’s Jewish Arts & Culture programming.

Supervise the JCC Jewish Arts & Culture program team and work directly in programming.

Take lead on special projects and programs as determined by the JCC.

Ensure vibrant and engaging programming by fostering innovation and forming strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations across the Twin Cities.

Lead the JCC Jewish Arts & Culture team in developing strategies to maximize opportunities for our community to experience meaningful programs.

Support and lead initiatives to share Jewish holidays and traditions with the JCC community and team members.

Collaborate closely with the Youth & Camping, Inclusion, Marketing, and Health and Wellness teams to connect to the mission and community.

Develop departmental budgets and manage the JCC Jewish Arts & Culture team’s operating financials and reporting.

Serve as a member of the Minnesota JCC Functional Leadership Team to help develop and implement the overall organizational strategy.

Ensure all JCC programs are accessible and inclusive of people from diverse backgrounds and interests.

Manage and cultivate positive relationships with Arts & Culture partners, evaluating the effectiveness, long-term potential, and profitability of existing collaborations.

Develop and implement systems to evaluate the effectiveness and measure the impact of all Jewish Arts & Culture programs.

Develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure all Jewish Arts & Culture programming aligns with the JCC mission and values, and effectively communicate this vision across stakeholder groups.

Ensure all Jewish Arts & Culture events are adequately staffed to meet program requirements and participant needs.

Additional Duties:

Reviewing and approving time reporting.

Assist Chief Program Officer with special projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Arts Management, or related field.

A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in arts and culture programming or similar position.

Strong understanding of Jewish culture, holidays, and traditions.

Proven leadership and team management experience.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Positive attitude and dedication to providing exceptional customer service.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate with others. This position includes program planning time and meetings in an office setting, as well as delivery of programming at various locations that may include arranging and meeting performers, venue set-up, delivery of supplies, etc. In the office setting, the employee sits at a desk for consecutive hours at a time using a computer or other office equipment or standing while scanning/copying documents. In both the office setting and program areas, additional physical requirements include lifting and moving equipment and program supplies up to 25 lbs., occasional bending, crouching, and reaching.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a dedicated office space at the Minneapolis location and shared office at the Saint Paul location. Working conditions may include regular interruptions and meetings. Employee is expected to work 3-4 days per week at the Minneapolis location and 1-2 days per week at the Saint Paul location. The employee will typically work M-F, 8 am - 5 pm and will be required to flex their schedule to work some evenings and weekends.
