2 Force Protection Officers . These are permanent full-time state positions located at the Portland Air National Guard Base (PANG) in Portland, Oregon.This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union.NOTE: This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.OMD is dedicated to diversity efforts that reinforce respectful treatment of others in the workplace. These efforts focus on identifying ways to work better together, reducing conflict by increasing understanding, improving collaboration, fostering teamwork, and increasing productivity and quality of services delivered by OMD.What You Will be DoingProvide Law Enforcement and Force Protection services to the Portland Air National Guard Base (PANG), to effectively secure and protect mission essential operational resources, State and Federal property and personnel assigned to host/tenant units. Incumbent enforces Federal, State, Air Force, Air National Guard and PANG regulations in order to preserve the peace, good order and discipline to protect life, limb and government property. The position works under the direction of a SRT Leader as a member of a Force Protection Response Team. In the event of hostile threats, this position works effectively as part of a team to ensure the protection and security of mission essential resources.Working ConditionsIncumbent is subject to work overtime with as much notice as possible, at any time the Resource Protection mission requires or at any time directed by the 142d Security Forces Manager or other 142 SFS management staff. On a daily basis, incumbent is required to bear firearms in the performance of duty and is also required to perform those duties in all weather conditions, regardless of time of day. Incumbent is required to work outside and may be exposed to noxious fumes such as vehicle and aircraft exhaust on a daily basis. Works in extreme high noise area (flightline) and firing range. Incumbent responds to hazardous materials incidents, fires or medical emergencies as outer perimeter security and evacuates personnel.What You Need to QualifyAn Associate degree in law enforcement.**OR**Eighteen (18) months of armed law enforcement or security service experience which included:Interpreting and applying security and public safety regulations, policies, and procedures.Interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects; and writing investigative reports of findings.NOTE: Military training in a police occupation specialty may substitute for six (6) months of experience.NOTE: Candidates must complete a pre-employment psychological evaluation and drug screen prior to official job offer. Employees must obtain and keep a Department of Defense security clearance at the secret level and maintain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.NOTE: Please be sure that the work experience section of your application clearly addresses how your experience and or education relates to the above listed “What You Need to Qualify” section of this announcement.Additional RequirementsIncumbent must attend 80 hours of training on Law Enforcement/Security procedures, policies, etc. prior to being released for duty.Candidate must pass

Duties and responsibilities include unescorted access to restricted areas that may contain classified equipment or materials up to secret level. To retain employment incumbent must possess or be able to possess and maintain a favorable completed National Agency Check in order to receive and retain an AF Form 1199 restricted area badge and obtain and maintain AF Form 2293, U.S. Air Force Motor Vehicle Identification Card.Must complete physical agility test prior to being hired and annually thereafter per AFI 32-122.
