Attached is a job description for the position we have at the Venango County Historical Society. This is a 40 hour per week salaried position with NO benefits. We would offer 1 week paid vacation after 6 months with additional days added after 2 years. Salary will depend upon experience.Responsibilities:
The Executive Director will:Work directly with the society board of directors and its committees, reporting to the president.Keep the executive secretary posted about their schedule and availability.Become familiar with the history and facts of the society, its headquarters, publications, library, archives, membership, programs, etc.Promote the society throughout the county by way of:Public programs and school programming.Exhibits, working with committees to prepare exhibits in-house and at other locations.Public relations through mass media, cooperating with other history-related organizations, and providing information for the Intelligencer.Participation in community activities.Assist with ongoing fundraisers, work with the board to develop new fundraising initiatives, seek out grant possibilities, and submit proposals.Recruit, train, assign tasks, and maintain an active file of volunteers.Attend monthly board meetings and present reports on activities and suggestions.Participate in semi-annual reviews with the executive committee to evaluate job performance.Perform other duties as assigned.
