The primary role of the Engineering function within the Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. Works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements. Software Engineers who design, write, and test code for the product should be matched in either Software Engineering Applications or Systems. Product developers who specialize in hardware systems should be matched to Hardware Engineering.

Let’s talk about Responsibilities

The primary objective of “Software Engineering” specialization within “Engineering (PD)” Job Family is to design, develop, test, and deliver software that meets our business and customer needs.

Key responsibilities include: Design, develop and test software; Verify software behavior meets requirements through manual and automated tests; Deliver quality product within timeline; Document product design; Analyze, debug and help resolve customer issues; Collaborate and communicate effectively with all stakeholders required.

Focus on the development and implementation of strategic and operational objectives that help achieve organizational mission. Implements organization strategies through the effective direction and management of employees and resources.

Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.

Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.

Coaches team members on performance, provides inputs for performance evaluations and might be involved in pay actions.

Typically without budget or hire/fire authority.

Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

Applies acquired expertise and exercises judgment to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent.

Analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors.

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills.

At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current base range for this position is:

$134,000 - $168,000 USD .
