Director of Product Management, Network Utilization for our Electric IT organization.To meet our fossil free future and effectively support our customers and stakeholders now and in the future effective

Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS)

will make this possible, providing technical and commercial solutions to maximize our network’s availability to customers and delivering an effective Distribution System Operator (DSO); whether that’s providing effective short, medium and long-term forecasting to optimize generation and low/zero carbon technology operation or delivering commercial arrangements to enable DER to provide network support. Digital DER Management solutions will revolutionize these activities and this role will take ownership of the development and delivery to enable National Grid to be recognized as the leading US utility to support ours and our customers’ net zero ambitions.The Product Director of Network Utilization is a key leadership position within the US Electric IT team with the overall ownership to establish the vision/strategy for the Digital IT Portfolio. This will include the definition, planning, and execution of a broad range of outcome-focused products making up a coordinated and industry-defining portfolio.This role will work closely with key New York and New England business stakeholders to build a cohesive strategy & vision, drive the development and delivery of the product portfolio for measurable outcomes, own the financial planning & total cost of ownership for the product family & manage a team of product managers, product designers & engineers.The person will be a positive disrupter who will lead by example, to effectively use frontier technology, re-imagine business processes and mature agile ways of working to accelerate time to market of solutions and outcomes. They will create an inclusive and energetic environment that thrives on innovation and create diverse high-performing team culture.This is a hybrid position and will require candidates to travel to our corporate hubs (Brooklyn, NY, Waltham, MA, Syracuse, NY) as required. Partner with senior leaders to define and align business and product vision and strategyDefine and communicate an effective vision for digitalized work execution, its value and benefit, throughout the organization and with our stakeholders to create a collaborative and informed end userLead, develop, and mentor a team of product managers with indirect responsibility for additional cross-functional team membersLead cross-functional teams in planning, prioritization, and product deliveryDefine and measure business impact, and monitor performance of initiatives and communicate performance metrics to key stakeholdersLeverage data to understand risks, impacts, scope and priorities of our business objectives, and enable the team to drive resultsQualifications

A degree directly related to or transferable to digital delivery and/or the energy system more broadly10+ years’ experience delivering and implementing new distribution energy resource solutions into mature electric utility environments10+ years’ experience successfully leading and improving teams that are highly effective both in terms of impact and team culture5+ years proven experience managing critical product program/portfolio to transform utility business operationsComfortable in challenging the ‘status quo’ and driving change at an enterprise levelAbility to create a genuine industry-leading strategic vision for a critical portfolio and be able to turn that into tangible and achievable deliverables with a track record for exceeding expectationsAbility to get to the root of the problem quickly, develop frontier solutions in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and communicate that effectively to all levels within the organization and beyondGenuinely strong communication skills with an ability to successfully navigate a complex organization and generate and maintain buy-in for ideas and plansStrong technical background, with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with engineering, designers, UX, and data scienceHaving previous product development and implementation experience within a US energy utility would be hugely valuableUnderstanding the US (electricity and natural gas) sector, regulatory/technology/business issues impacting the industry and future trends is a must and a previous role in this space would be advantageousDemonstrate a genuinely entrepreneurial mindset, with a clear focus on action and the ability to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing environments whilst continuing to deliver against the organizational visionMore Information
