Principal Scientist - T cell engager

Why Patients Need YouPfizer’s purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. Research and Development is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer’s purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies that matter most. Our Oncology Research Unit in La Jolla, CA is focused on supporting the execution and diversification of the Oncology Research pipeline and translate discoveries into novel therapeutics. Our team takes a holistic approach to understand the interplay of tumor, stromal, and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, striving to define the axes of intercellular communication that could be leveraged to generate novel therapeutics. Our T cell biology team is looking for an experienced Principal Scientist to uncover the next generation T cell engagers to change patients’ lives. What You Will AchieveAs a member of our T cell biology team, you will identify and evaluate novel T cell-targeted approaches in the field of Cancer Immunotherapy. You will advance our pre-clinical drug discovery programs in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team of motivated and scientifically rigorous scientists. You will directly supervise a team of laboratory-based colleagues responsible for study execution and data analysis. You will be recognized as a subject matter expert and a scientific contributor at the team and project level. With your deep knowledge of T cell biology and cancer immunotherapy, you will be an active team member whose decisions impact projects and strategy to deliver novel T cell engagers. Your creativity in developing novel projects and new ideas will be used frequently. How You Will Achieve ItInitiate and drive discovery research programs to early clinical development by providing scientific and technical T cell biology expertise.Work in a matrixed environment and collaborate with multiple disciplines to identify and pursue the most promising drug candidates.Lead and mentor a small team of scientists to conceptualize, design, and execute experiments and support target identification/validation, mechanism of action studies, and biomarker identification.Interpret, present, and document experiments as well as preparation of reports.Design, plan, and execute project strategies to ensure efficient and effective decision-making.Communicate strategy and results accurately and concisely to stakeholders in a multidisciplinary team environment.Publish results in scientific peer-reviewed journals and presentations at internal, national, and international meetings.QualificationsPhD degree in Immunology or a related discipline.Minimum of 4 years relevant industry immune-oncology drug discovery and development experience.Technical and scientific experience developing multi-specific antibodies targeting T cells.Broad technical and scientific expertise assessing T cell phenotypes and function (flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, MSD, confocal microscopy) in preclinical animal and
