Senior Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to manage a complex caseload and provide expert legal counsel. The ideal candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and work closely with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires strong case management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to handle client interactions effectively.Duties:Report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and manage a diverse caseload of criminal defense cases.Advise clients on their legal rights and draft necessary legal documents related to their cases.Represent clients in pretrial hearings, providing strategic advice and recommendations based on hearing outcomes.Oversee court appearances, trial preparation, motion drafting, witness interviews, and legal research.Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents and case law.Manage the workload of cases efficiently, ensuring timely and effective legal representation.Provide comprehensive legal analysis to determine potential benefits and risks for clients.Accumulate additional evidence to support cases and counter prosecution charges.Prepare clients for depositions, set essential case strategy goals, and gather supporting information from witnesses and experts.Handle complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.Collaborate with and support fellow associates and legal assistants in case management and strategy development.Requirements:4-5 years of criminal defense experience at the federal, state, and local levels.Bilingual in English and Spanish.Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:Licensed to practice law in California.Skills:Expertise in managing complex criminal defense cases.Strong legal analysis, case strategy, and research capabilities.Proficiency in drafting legal documents and preparing clients for depositions.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
