The West Coast Conference was formed in 1952 and has evolved and grown to become a nationally recognized and competitive force in Division I intercollegiate athletics. The WCC is fueled by the conviction to achieve its goals with strong core values of integrity, respect, collaboration, innovation, and inclusiveness that create a holistic student-athlete experience across the Conference. Beginning with the 2024-25 academic year, the WCC’s membership includes Gonzaga, LMU, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Clara. Oregon State and Washington State are affiliate members for certain sports through the 2025-26 seasons. The Conference will sponsor 16 sports in 2024-25.Role SummaryReporting to the Associate Commissioner, Championships and Sport Administration, the Assistant Director, Championships and Sport Administration, will serve the conference and its member institutions in many areas with an emphasis in championships and support of student services.The overall impact of this position is to support the conference and its member institutions, further the development of the conference and its student athletes and foster an environment of athletics and academic excellence. This position's success relies on the ability to assist conference staff in multifaceted areas.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCHAMPIONSHIPSAdministration and execution of assigned championships.Participate in championships planning meetings and video calls, as appropriate.Liaison to championship vendors (e.g., hospitality, credentials, athletic trainers, hotels, insurance, equipment, etc.).Coordinator and on-site contact for all WCC Championship officials for assigned sports.Coordinator and on-site contact for all WCC Championship athletic trainers for assigned sports.Solicit and coordinate volunteers for all WCC Championships.Active engagement with championship policies and procedures for assigned sports.Assist with production of championship related events, collateral, and signage.Collaborate with cross functional teams regarding external affairs, and sponsorship fulfillment at championship events.Oversee NCAA automatic qualification application and notification.Manages Championship/Tournament Manuals for assigned sports.Manages budgets for assigned sports.SPORT ADMINISTRATIONOversee and manage sport administration for assigned sports.Research, track and document rankings (RPI, NET) of WCC sports within the NCAA.Staff liaison responsibilities for the head coaches’ group for assigned sports.Monitor and enforce NCAA and WCC sport specific policies.Support Championships and Sports Administration Cabinet.Education and Experience• Associate or Bachelor’s degree required.• Minimum of 2-3 years’ work experience in a sport program or related field.• Experience in intercollegiate athletics or student services preferred.Travel requirements20-30% of travelWork LocationHybrid with South San Francisco, CA base.Salary$58,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience.Application ProcedureInterested and qualified applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and list of three references.
