Our OGAP platform is one of the world's largest, cancer-specific, membrane protein libraries, directly measuring plasma membrane protein expression in both cancer patient and normal biopsy tissues. Leveraging OGAP, OBT is focusing on developing first-in-class therapies (ADC, IO) with partnerships including Boehringer Ingelheim (TCE), ImmunoGen (ADC) and Genmab (IO). Our lead asset, OBT076, is an Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) in Phase 1b clinical development. Our clinical and pre-clinical pipeline of novel biologics is balanced between internal programs and externally partnered programs.

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a Senior Lab Operations Technician to support our research activities. The candidate will be responsible for multiple operational aspects of running a biological lab. Daily tasks will include maintenance of the lab equipment, ordering and managing lab supplies, maintaining and training staff on best lab practices and safety, integrating proper data management of laboratory data.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

The Senior Lab Operations Technician is responsible for ensuring the policies, infrastructure and equipment result in a safe and productive laboratory work environment.

Ensures effective operation of all laboratory equipment and serves as point of contact for instrument repairs. Responsibility for inventory, maintenance and calibration of all instruments.

Manages and executes various lab jobs such as Liquid Nitrogen filling, CO2 regulator changes, incubator water refilling, waste disposal, and ethanol refilling and cleaning of certain equipment (i.e. fridges and freezers, heat baths, incubators, etc.).

Maintains an adequate inventory of research materials (chemicals, consumables, antibodies, etc.) in conjunction with the data manager and ensures consumable supply stocking/ordering.

Responsible for shipping and receiving of laboratory items.

Supports laboratory staff by preparing and organizing reagents within the various lab spaces to effectively carry out successful experiments.

Trains new scientific staff in the general use and function of designated instrumentation and creates and refines user protocols for general use.

Helps draft and implement new laboratory policies, work instructions or standard operating procedures.

Helps assist data manager in inventory tracking and when applicable help coordinate tech support.

Helps receive packages for the site and track packing slips for financial record keeping.

Works in conjunction with building management and safety consults to keep up with building wide safety policies and procedures as needed.

Other duties as assigned to support the integration of the various teams and smooth laboratory operations at the San Jose site.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

Degree in the biological or chemical sciences.

Experience working in a research laboratory.

Strong people and organizational skills.

Strong computer hardware/software skills.

Experience in instrument and equipment setup and maintenance preferred.

Experience in lab operations preferred.

Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Experience with electronic lab notebook (ELN) systems preferred.

Experience in contract management with vendors preferred.
