As

Director of Human Resources , you will play an essential role in driving an excellent employee experience and culture. You will have a strong focus in recruitment, retention, training, and development. You will also assist in the areas of payroll, benefits, employee relations, workers’ compensation, and general HR compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manages the onboarding and general company orientation process of employees.

Reviews training programs and works with department managers to improve and maintain; programs should ensure a positive first and lasting impression with our team members and guests.

Assesses current employee satisfaction and implements programs to improve upon employee morale, culture, and retention.

Mentors department managers in the areas of coaching and developing their team members; may host manager trainings.

Assists with reviewing timecards and ensuring accuracy with each payroll.

Ensures timely benefit enrollment by employees; assists with the annual open enrollment process.

With assistance from the GM, utilizes an “open door” policy to acknowledge employee issues and concerns in a timely manner; escalates issues to Director of HR when necessary.

Assists managers with progressive discipline documentation, reviewing for accuracy and consistency.

Assists with employee incident investigations.

May assist with documenting workers’ compensation claims, submitting to insurance carrier, and assisting with investigations.

Posts and manages jobs on company applicant tracking system.

Pre-screens candidates before scheduling interviews with the applicable hiring managers.

Pursues other ways of recruiting such as career fairs, networking with local colleges and high schools.

Processes background and reference checks as required.

Maintains all HR and Payroll systems and files.

Assists with planning and organizing company events.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Able to effectively lead and be a role model for all team members.

Able to assess/evaluate team member performance in a fair and consistent manner.

Able to make decisions with only general policies and procedures available for guidance.

Proficient in the use of computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, HR software, email, etc.

Able to work with a team on projects and share opinions while also gathering opinions and information from others.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and a desire to participate as part of a team.

Communicate effectively & positively through speech & email with co-workers, hotel employees, vendors, and customers.

EDUCATION

Minimum of Associate Degree required, preferred.

EXPERIENCE

5+ years of Human Resources experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisor of HR Generalist and HR Assistant.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

SHRM-CP or HRCI Certification preferred.
