Walker & Dunlop's Summer Internship Program provides a dynamic environment for students to learn aspects of the commercial real estate finance industry. Each year, W&D invites a distinguished group of interns to participate in a ten-week training and mentoring program to help build their skills and learn about the organization. Interns will play supporting and individual contributor roles and have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our business through hands-on training.

The Small Balance Underwriting team is responsible for managing the loan creation process from application to closing while preserving credit standards and managing risk. We primarily underwrite Agency Multifamily debt (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) but will occasionally work with other capital partners and/or finance mobile home communities, mixed use, student-properties, and other similar residential uses. The Underwriting team typically consist of an Underwriter and one or more analysts who work in partnership to size loans based on compliance with agency and other capital partners guidelines. The team also underwrites the credit-worthiness of loan sponsors; evaluating the org structure and the net worth, liquidity, credit, real estate portfolio, and experience of individual sponsors. We work at the center of transactions and regularly interface internally with internal and external stakeholders.

Assist SBG Analysts with vendor bidding, scheduling, and invoice processing.Work with underwriting teams to collect, review, and process transaction due diligence.Learn the fundamentals of rent roll and operations analysis for multifamily properties.Assist in preparation for underwriting property site visits.Assist in uploading and submission of full underwriting packages to Freddie MacLearn to read and interpret key aspects of multifamily appraisals, condition, environmental, and zoning reports.Education and Experience

Must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor's degree in an undergraduate program at an accredited universityMust be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S.Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPAMust be able to commit to the 10 week program beginning June 2rd and ending August 8thRelevant work experience a plusKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
