JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Manager, under the direction of the Director of Winemaking, will oversee, plan and schedule production supply deliveries, track wine movements and work using InnoVint, implement and evaluate safety programs with the Cellar Master, and develop, review, and assess production operations on a continual basis with the Director of Winemaking to improve efficiency and absolute wine quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Production

Production Management and coordination under Director of WinemakingPlans, coordinates, and implements daily work orders with Director of Winemaking and Cellar Master.Assist in cellar work as needed.Enters work orders in InnoVint accurately and on a timely basis.Ensure all the projects are completed with client satisfaction.Assess production operations, principles and practices on a continual basis with the Director of Winemaking to improve efficiency and absolute wine quality.Assist with interviewing, supervision, and training of production/cellar staff.Follow and implement safety rules and SOP in the facility.Order supplies and materials for production as needed.Coordinate and schedule the repair and maintenance of all equipment and facilities.Assist Director of Winemaker in securing quotes from vendors.Establish and maintain open, consistent and timely communication with Director of Winemaking.Participate in site audits as required.Ensure all bottling receiving, production, supply usage is accurately communicated to Director of Winemaking.

Safety Management

Assumes responsibility for role of Safety Manager for the company, including being the point person for compliance, training requirements and all safety protocols as required by OSHA, as well as oversight of PPE program.Works closely with Management to coordinate RTW and WC programs as appropriate.Responsible for coordination and execution of quarterly safety meetings and follow-up items.Assist in development of guidelines, SOPs, procedures, and practices.Assist management by facilitating root cause analysis, and corrective and preventative action development to prevent future accidents or incidents.Review workplace practices to make sure employee health & safety-related policies and procedures are being followed by employees and enforced by management.Respond to on-site OSHA visits and follow up, if needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or ExperienceCollege degree in Viticulture and Enology or Wine Business, and at least five (5) years of production experience in a winery.

SkillsMust be able to perform quality work, safely and consistently with minimum supervision or direction. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Use proper safety equipment and safety procedures. Able to handle multiple competing tasks and priorities. Have strong verbal communications skills. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables. Ability to comprehend the consequences of various problem situations and to refer them to the appropriate people for resolution.

Working ConditionsWork is mainly performed in a winery/cellar. The individual is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles relative to normal cellar processes. Noise levels are usually moderate to loud.

Hazards:

Occasionally works near moving machinery parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.

SAFETY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAccident prevention shall be considered of primary importance in all phases of job responsibilities.

Follow all company policies and procedures including job safety, safety rules and regulations.Assist management to provide safe and healthy working conditions at all times.Immediately report all unsafe conditions, work-related accidents, and illnesses to Safety Manager and supervisor.
