About the Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Business Systems Analyst. The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for conducting business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align organizational technology solutions with business initiatives. Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Develops or modifies information systems while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment. Works closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of their business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates. Reviews assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological areas for improvement in efficiency.Acts as primary interface between Technology, Operational, and Business areas on applying technology to business opportunities, planning and implementation of cross-functional applications, and ensures adherence to schedules and budgets. Leverages the understanding of systems, and relationships with business and IT players to create a collaborative work environment where performers are motivated to do what is best for the Bank and excel. Provides input to senior management on department/area-level challenges and opportunities.MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

:1. BUSINESS ANALYSIS / INTERNAL CONSULTINGProvides consulting services to internal business, operations, & technology groups on process improvement opportunities. Elicit business & technical requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis methodologies, and task and workflow analysis. Maintains requirements traceability. Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. Identify opportunities to capture efficiency, increase revenue, reduce risk, lower cost, and improve the overall performance of the bank. Responsible for defining scope, requirements, design, and systems integration of new projects/processes. Identify gaps, potential IT solution options, risk assessments and implementation of defect fixes. Develops & delivers business requirements documentation and packages as outputs of key activities to be codified and utilized to develop detailed WBS and project plans. Aligns all business analysis activities with overall project lifecycle activities and established SDLC requirements.2. APPLICATION IMPLEMENTATIONSProvides business analysis support on projects across the Bank. Works with the various stakeholders to generate, refine, and codify business & technical requirements. Leverage those requirements to assist the business, operational, and technology teams in the vendor selection process. Determine and document any business, operational, & technical process changes that are required as a part of the implementation under technical options, limitations, costs, and risks. Communicate tradeoffs to business partners and work with them to shape requirements accordingly. Work with all stakeholders and parties involved on implementation of those process changes for a smooth transition. Develop and support the building out of test plans that can be used for validating requirements and testing systems prior to implementation. Understands, anticipates, and communicates the downstream impacts that the implementation has on other systems in the process. Supports delivery team as they develop, test, and deploy solutions. Review delivery team output to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted; define and execute test cases. Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures. Ensures that business analysis activities adhere to appropriate SDLC controls and steps.3. PROJECT METHODOLOGYDrive program structure and discipline and promote use of business analysis & project processes, templates, and tools based on complexity and schedule of the project. Execute project management & business analysis standards and principles across the organization to drive the high-quality execution of each project. Supports, develops, and drives SDLC activities and adherence of SDLC requirements for in scope systems and projects in flight. Create viable project charters that tie to strategy and business requirements. Work closely with technical and business product owners and Agile teams to help support agile business requirements gathering and alignment of project activities with sprint goals and overall product owner & stakeholder defined product goals. Translate customer needs and requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories as well as translate user stories into test cases and support QA/testing activities. Assists and/or Leads project team towards achieving predetermined goals and results. Supports agile team activities, processes, and ceremonies as required to ensure process of Agile projects continues unimpeded and as aligned around project and organizational goals.4. VENDOR LIAISONServes as primary contact with vendors on applications as assigned including working with vendors on consulting and project related initiatives. Ensures partner vendors on aligned efforts adhere to SDLC and PMO requirements.

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Position requires 3-5 years or progressive IT experience, 1-2 years of proven experience as a business analyst / business systems analyst, and a B.S. in business/technology or related field. Must have experience in the following areas: Business analysis (e.g., analysis of business partnerships, financial models); technical & business requirements gathering, process reengineering; develop and implement training; design and write procedures; and application configuration and analysis.Must have proficiency in MS Office, Visio and / or other process diagramming tools. Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet are highly desired. Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is desired. Experience with ServiceNow PPM / SPM modules is a plus.Advanced problem-solving skills required in order to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources. Situations require operational knowledge of all banking units and understanding of complex financial and programming analysis.Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.Ability to support PMIS systems, tools, and related system configurations at an administrative level is expected in this role. Ability to configure, update, document, and create procedures for business continuity and documentation purposes is required.Ability to translate and bridge the gap between business requirements and technical system requirements to ensure all teams are aligned between design, build, and delivery aspects of projects. Aids in delivering a final product that meets overall project and organizational goals, defined KPIs as defined in project planning and project charters, and which meets defined stakeholder acceptance criteria.Position requires a high level of internal and external contacts to evaluate and make recommendations on complex and varied issues. Works with all levels of management to resolve complex issues. Must be able to develop procedures and present formal training internally.Work is under minimal supervision where the work requires independent judgment in the interpretation of existing procedures and recommendations of alternative procedures and work routines. Plans and arranges own work, referring only very unusual matters to division and department manager.Work requires a high level of mental effort involving complex applications such as programming and report development. PC work for extended periods is frequently required. Work is often under tight time constraints.The ability to develop and execute detailed testing scripts, plans, and project documentation that minimize bank risk. Position requires writing skills to document system problems and recommended solutions in a clear and concise manner.SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required.WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements. Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions. Compensation Information

At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.
