Ultrasound Technologist / Sonographer Spotlight

Location: Biddeford, MEFacility: Maine Medical CenterSonographer utilizes clinical and technical knowledge to obtain high quality sonographic images and detailed patient information that will provide the radiologist with the diagnostic information necessary for accurate interpretations. Performs adult general and high risk ob exams. May float to the Biddeford and/or Sanford location based on department needs.Promotes a smooth flow of patients through the department and helps to create a calm and supportive atmosphere. Performs tasks as required, paying attention to detail and accuracy. Conducts all interactions with patients and personnel in a courteous, respectful manner while maintaining confidentiality.Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)Education:

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, procedures, and equipment at a level generally acquired through completion of an approved AMA school of ultrasound. Graduate of AMA approved school of ultrasound preferred.License/Certifications:

RDMS required within 15 months of hire date. BLS required.Experience:

OB ultrasound experience preferred.Analytical ability to identify and characterize pathology, appropriately image pathology, and identify areas requiring further testing. Must be able to analyze the quality of the scan.Participates in continuing education and maintains knowledge through appropriate technical journals, in-services, and education programs in order to maintain and enhance expertise.Must have strong interpersonal skills.Must be able to take call and be on site within 45 minutes.Must be able to flex based on department volumes/demands.Completion of an approved Ultrasound program is preferred.Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and be available to cover 2nd and 3rd shifts for vacation coverage.
