Position Summary :

The Senior Accountant position is a key role within the Finance Department. We are a small team and collaborate on many agency-wide initiatives as well as on the day-to-day process of ensuring accurate and timely financial information. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to assist us in meeting our mission. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to ensure internal controls are maintained while also partnering with line staff to provide support to agency operations.

Essential Functions :

Perform day-to-day as well as supervisory functions over the finance operations including billing/collections, accounts payable processing and general ledger reconciliations, while ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements and non-profit business practices consistent with our 501(c)3 status.

Will function as the administrator of the accounting software, Business Central as well as Continia for expense and invoice management.

Will assist in grants management & reporting, ensuring compliance with terms of contracts as well as Single audit requirements of federal grants.

Participate in training of new employees at New Employee Orientation on the use of Expense Reimbursement software (Continia).

Will assist staff on an on-going basis in answering questions about A/P invoices, Walker credit card transactions and expense reimbursements.

Ensure monthly accounting closes are completed as scheduled; including but not limited to:

Prepare and issue monthly invoices to all customers including School Districts as well as the State of Massachusetts for the various programs.

Process Accounts Payable invoices, Walker Credit Card activity & Employee Expense Reimbursements in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy.

Record monthly journal entries.

Perform monthly bank account reconciliations.

Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

Assist in the preparation of documentation for our year-end audit.

Assist in the preparation of month end reporting to program managers.

Participate in monthly meetings with program managers in reviewing financial reports.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: Supervision provided by the Controller

Will provide supervision to the Staff Accountant

Education

:Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Experience:Preferred: 3-5 years accounting experience (internship work will count towards experience)

Skills and Abilities :

Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Sound judgement and decision-making skills; strong focus on maintaining confidentiality.

Well organized with strong analytical and reasoning abilities.

Excellent attention to detail and system of self-review.

Ability to establish credibility and be decisive but able to recognize and support the organizations preferences and priorities.

Knowledge of Microsofts Business Central accounting software, Continia software, and Paycoms payroll software a plus.

Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsofts Office Suite including Excel.
